Livie is off bypass and her Fontan is complete! Her pacer wires have been placed and now they are working on placing the device in its new abdominal home. Dr. Echauser should be out within the next couple of hours to chat and then we'll get to see Olivia.
I'm scared to see her. I haven't seen her like this in three years. Back then, I only knew that side of her. Now I have seen her run and play and be a kid. And now I get to see her be a heart kid again. On top of all that, we will be adding another completely different aspect to this heart stuff. She will have a little buddy, let's name him Pacey, living in her belly. We will be able to see him. We will be able to feel him. This new friend scares me, but he may yet prove to be an immense blessing. I have learned a term from a friend. Posilution, the positive revolution, and so I'm trying to take a page from the Hilary Handbook and utilize this term she uses so often. Pacey may be make our stay here shorter. He may give my Livie the energy she needs to take on the world. He may become the best friend that keeps my baby's heart healthy and happy. So, while I'm scared to meet Pacey and bring him into my home, I am choosing to welcome him. Let's hope Livie feels the same.
