This morning's xray looked good. What little fluid was around Livie's lung looked like it would be easily wiped out with the diuretic. During Livie's echo they saw more fluid. So, another xray confirmed that there was indeed more fluid since this morning. Boo! But, we were warned and I was prepared for this. The biggest bummer is this means another chest tube. Originally they were thinking they could get away with using a needle to clear up the fluid but after taking a close look at everything they think it would be wisest to add the tube. This is not an emergency, and her diuretics could probably take care of it but it would take forever so the tube is what we'll do. It's not making Olivia uncomfortable at all and her only issue right now is that she can't eat until after they place the tube this afternoon. She will be sedated but will not have to be intubated. Basically she'll be awake but not awake. If that makes sense. The tube they'll place is smaller and they're hoping to do it down in imaging where they can place the tube with xray in the perfect spot. If imaging won't do it then Dr. E will. He's confident he can place the tube correctly but it would be ideal to have imaging do it so there's a 100% chance of placing in the right spot.
So, a small setback. It wouldn't be fun if it were too easy, right?
