The KUB came back normal...but they're going to treat for NEC anyway. Olivia's bloody stool+her fussiness+her bad sats+the questionable KUB the other day=a two week stay/one way ticket to crazy town for mama.
So, no feeds for a week, antibiotics, and a picc line. For those of you wondering, a picc line is basically the nastiest IV you've ever seen. If you want more details see here. She'll be on TPN and lipids aka her pee bag nutrients. After the antibiotics run their course we'll start to increase feeds as tolerated.
On the plus side, since they stopped her feeds she's been less fussy. Still fussy because now she's hungry but we've been able to bring her O2 needs down. They're not sure why NEC would affect her O2 needs but every child is different. So, since they're already treating for that we're going to hope that she's just being very different rather than having some other problem that has yet to manifest itself.
And on a happier note. Olivia's hair is starting to grow back in. It's still brown. Lucky girl. I always wanted to be brunette when I was growing up.
