Like
clockwork. Two weeks at home after the Norwood. Two weeks after
getting oxygen. Two week after the cath. Please bless that after the
glenn (which will possibly be next week now) this whole two weeks at
home turns into two months. AT LEAST! But hey, loved seeing my heart
mom friends. Almost makes being admitted worth it...almost. What's
going on you ask? Oh ya know. Her sats are HORRIBLE again. Had to
crank her up to 3 liters this afternoon which was our one way ticket.
So, an xray showed that her lungs are just fine (yay!) and her echo
didn't show any problems with her stent/sano. Then, the not so great
news is something something possibility of NEC blah blah blah. All I
really heard was the NEC part. NEC is an infection in the intestines and treatment of said infection is no food for a week and a round of antibiotics. Worst case scenario they'd have to remove a portion of her intestine. They're hoping it's really just stool they're seeing in the xray and that she'll have a wonderfully large diaper in the very near future.
They'll do an xray at 5 to check again. We are obviously hoping it's not NEC. Not only would she be uber mad about not getting to eat for a week but it would just be terrifyingly horrible. In case you're wondering, NEC is life-threatening. At least if we're forced to do the glenn next week it's something that we're going to have to do anyway. Might as well do it now and get it over with.
Now the reason for an early glenn. There's
really no other route to go seeing as her sano's already stented. At this
point they're waiting for Dr. Kaza (her surgeon) to get back in town (next week) to make the
final call. So we'll be here til next week at least. I guess her
recovery from the norwood just went too well and she just wants to
make sure we remember that she's got that special heart.
So, again, we're asking for prayers. Not quite sure if we're praying for a smooth open heart surgery or a nice and boring recovery from a bacterial infection but luckily, a prayers a prayer and will get answered whether we're specific or not.
