We're getting there. Olivia should be up to full feeds around midnight tonight. So far she's handling them very well. The past couple days she's been pretty grumpy but I think that's because her gut has woken enough to know that it wants food but her tummy still isn't getting any since she's still on the NJ. But, tomorrow we have a swallow study which means she will actually be able to eat something orally for the first time in 2.5 weeks. I'm worried she won't pass her swallow study since she hasn't been eating for the past couple weeks but she's been going at the binky like her life depended on it so I'm praying that swallowing her spit and sucking on that binky did enough. I guess we'll see.
BUT, I have super awesome amazing news!!! Olivia is on day three of NO OXYGEN! She had a transfusion on Monday due to her crit being low again. We slowly kept turning down the oxygen until on Tuesday we were able to turn it off altogether. That transfusion did wonders. Not just for her oxygen but she had been super grumpy and then after she got her blood she was so much happier and also pink. Poor little thing was pretty stinking blue. I didn't realize just how blue she'd gotten until she pinked up again. And now she's a happy girl without air blowing up her nose a mile a minute. So, I'm not holding my breath but the goal is to be home sometime this weekend. And if not, at least by Tuesday because I scheduled some family pictures. Speaking of which, send good vibes that Olivia passes her swallow study because if she does she'll be moved to an NG tube which I will be able to put in. This means, I can take it out for family pictures and we could get our first ever completely tube free and cordless picture of this little miracle baby.
Now, enjoy a video of some of the first giggles from our Olivia Dawn.
