Olivia is now up to a whoppin' 5 ml's an hour and instead of increasing every 12 hours they're increasing feeds every 8. So we're making progress! So very happy.
Kids crew found a new working mobile for Liv. She loves it even more. Also, notice the picture on the far right? Last picture without a feeding tube. She got it replaced the next morning.
Poor Livie has been left to work on her feeds all alone all weekend I'm afraid. Ok not really. But Andrew and Ella came down yesterday evening to visit and between a trip to the zoo and visiting my parents Olivia spent some quality time with the nurses and visitors. I felt horribly guilty but it was nice to be able to spend some time with Ella and Andrew. I really don't think Livie will hold it against me.
Ella's favorite's were the elephants and giraffes. She loved that the elephants were a whole family. She was so concerned when she couldn't see the mommy elephant at first but baby and daddy went and found her and Ella felt much better.

Doesn't that seem ridiculously slow? Oh well. 5 mls is a start and hopefully she will be back at her full rate soon enough! Keep doing lots of positive oral stimulation with her during this time. Get some really good smelling/tasting chapsticks and put them on her all the time. Put positive touch and lots of play time centered around her mouth (toys to the mouth, binkys, kisses, etc.) to help her recognize and keep that oral stimulation going. Hopefully she is back to breastfeeding really soon! Will the let you do non nutritive sucking yet? We think about you guys all the time. Hang in there! The Glenn was actually not the worst recovery for us. There were 4 really nasty tough days and after that, Grant was back to blowing bubbles and smiling despite the headaches and everything else. And... once she is post Glenn, the likelihood of all the small readmissions goes down too! I don't think Grant was back once for heart related stuff that wasn't planned after his Glenn! Hang in there!
Cute girls! Glad you got some time away. Im sure it's tough, but Olivia is in good hands.
Glad you were able to get away! We went to the zoo with our girls a couple weeks ago and melted in the heat. I hope it wasn't too hot for your trip, especially after being stuck in an air conditioned hospital! Yay for 5mls and for progress...hope you are out soon, that is the only downside to being home--not seeing all you wonderful moms and your cute kids!
