Clinic

So, I know my posts as of late haven't been super upbeat but things have gotten better since the cath.  We're still on oxygen, we still spend a lot of time in the house but I haven't been as worried, Andrew hasn't been as stressed, and Ella hasn't been as two-year-oldy.  All of that combined with today's visit to high risk clinic has made me mucho happy.

The clinic visit went well.  Livie didn't freak out near as much as last time.  Of course she did get pretty grumpy while they took her blood pressure.  She's never liked that part but she did well and she really liked Tiffany who was the one getting her vitals.  After vital were done in came Dr. Mcandless (sp?) and Annie, one of the cardiothorasic nurse practitioners we've gotten to know quite well over the past couple of months.  When they came in they were THRILLED to see how chunky Livie's gotten.  In fact they were 3 x's happier than they would've been at the minimum happy level.  See, some of these heart kiddos have a hard time gaining weight and growing so they're usually happy with gaining somewhere around 20 grams a day.  But, like we all knew she would be, Livie is awesome and she's been gaining about 62 grams per day, 3 x's what they hoped for.  And yes, that is a very good thing.
This is good on so many levels.  One, I get my michelin baby.  Chubby babies are just more fun to kiss.  Two, she's not letting this heart thing completely slow her down.  And three, she is big enough for her next surgery the glenn.  Dr. Kaza (her surgeon) saw us at our last stay and said she was big enough then but since then she's gained a pound.  As of now, her glenn has been scheduled for October 11 (10-11-12) Sounds like a lucky date, right?  But, there is still a chance of an early glenn if her sats get bad again.  But, we know she's already big enough and if she keeps gaining like she has been she's going to rock that surgery!  Oh and there is a four.  Four, I asked how much Olivia was supposed to eat per day and they said enough to keep her gaining weight.  So after talking to them about that a little more, they said it was not and unrealistic goal to nurse solely eventually.  I am SO happy!
See? Her chub even helps her sit up?
Developmental Delays?  I don't think so!
Oh, and this only lasted long enough for the picture so don't get too excited.

Sarah, that is so wonderful! I seriously cannot believe the roll she is getting! Definitely not your normal heart baby there! She is a rockstar! Keep practicing with that nursing and you will be able to pull the tube and nurse exclusively! YEAH!
