The Morning After

And she's still doing well!  She's still puffy but the swelling seems to have gone down a bit in her legs and feet.  They've started her on a diarrhetic called lasix and are giving her some protein to help the swelling go down more.  FYI protein will help draw fluid out of the muscle and such and into the blood stream so she can then pee it out.  I feel so smart now that I'm learning all this stuff.
Livie Babe should be able to get her chest closed tomorrow afternoon if all continues to go well.  It's a small surgical procedure but she won't have to go to the OR for it.  They'll just suit up, block the area off here in the CICU, and close her up at her bedside.  Should be a pretty simple procedure.
Andrew and I are doing pretty well also.  Andrew is still having a hard time seeing Livie this way but he's getting used to it.  He is still keeping his distance and so is doing some laundry right now.  See, miracles do happen :)  We're both still pretty tired but functioning.  I skipped my midnight pumping last night so I could get some rest and yes, I did sleep.  Andrew did as well but the poor guy just kinda bottles it all up so I'm pretty sure he's going to be exhausted for the rest of our lives.  A heart mommy friend posted one of those quote picture things on facebook that said "They're not gray hairs.  They're stress highlights."  Andrew loved it.  I'm thinking for his birthday I'll frame it.  Shhh, don't tell.

I am so grateful for your updates! She is really doing so well Sarah! I know how horrible it is to see your baby after surgery. You guys are doing great. Kyle and I both had our moments where it was too stressful to be there, so good for Andrew in knowing that it is healthy for him to take a break! You know that there is free laundry on the 3rd floor in the CSU right? Sometimes you have to wait a bit since it is pretty busy, but it saves on money! Hang in there today... the first two days after surgery were always the hardest on me... trying to find the right pain meds mix is always so tough! Keep it up Olivia!!!

Thank you again for your updates, I have to admit when I read the post before this, and saw the pictures, I broke down crying! Your amazing Sarah, that is all there is to it. Poor Andrew! I wish there was something more we could do. I love the heart quote about the gray hair, that is really cute! She is such a cute baby! I am so glad he was able to operate on her and fix it! Also thank your for posting pictures of her after the operation. Even with the tubes. . She is still super sweet and cute! I am sure you being there and singing to her is doing way more then you feel like it is. Keep hanging in there and let me know if there is anything I can do.
