And now we wait...

Sorry for the delayed post.  Things got a little crazy at the end of Olivia's surgery.  Not for her, but for us. Gramma brought Ella down and got here right before Dr. Kaza came to update us.  Then it was off to play with Ella while we waited for the ok to go back to see Olivia then seeing Olivia and processing, then taking Ella to her new babysitter's (in sugarhouse) then to the grocery store, then dinner and on and on.
So, in the update Dr. Kaza said everything went well.  Her aorta was super tiny and just barely operable so our prayers were definitely answered and it was repaired.
We really loved Dr. Kaza.  He was so sweet and great with Ella.  He even showed us a picture of his wife as a little girl because he thought Ella and she looked alike.  He warned us that Olivia would be swollen and suggested I sit down when I see her.  He then came by after we were allowed to come back to not only check on Olivia but us as well.
So, Olivia is doing well but the 24 hours post-op are still very crucial.  THere probably won't be much sleep for me tonight.  So far she is doing well.  Her blood pressure was pretty high when we first saw her, which is to be expected but it came down without any help from medications.  She's got tubes, iv's, drains, and what I call her shoelace (Dr. Kaza didn't close her chest so she has a giant bandaid shoelacey thing onher chest) and she is swollen (but not as bad as I was expecting her to be. )
Of course it's never easy seeing your baby like this and I wouldn't wish this on my worse enemy.  I go through stages where I feel fine and confident but sitting here watching the nurse fiddle with stuff and trying to make my sweetie as comfortable as possible I feel so helpless.  I just wanna cuddle my girl and let her know everything will be ok and I can't even do that.  The best I can do is talk/sing to her and pray that's good enough.
Andrew can't even be here right now.  Poor guy is really struggling with this.  He can't even touch her he's so scared he'll hurt her or mess something up.  Labor and delivery are bad enough on him, knowing there's nothing he can do to save the day.  This is about a million times worse for him seeing his baby girl like this.  So, instead of torturing himself and watching, helpless from the sidelines (like her mama is doing) he has gone to the trailer to read and eat our comfort food items that we bought today.  Wafer cookies for me and cottage cheese and tomatoes for him.  So when you see us next and he's all healthy and I'm the size of an elephant, you'll know why.
And now I'm going to post a picture of our little hero.  So, for those of you who are a bit squeamish/sympathetic (ahem, Bobby) maybe don't look.

Sarah, Andrew, Ella and Livie.
We are praying for all of you. Each Thursday I put your names on the Oquirrh Mt Temple roll. I will continue to do that each week. I love you all so much. Little Olivia is so beautiful. She looks like a real fighter and I believe she is going to recouperate rapidly. Give Ella a squeeze and smooch from Great Gramma. If I can do anything for you, please let me know.

She looks great! Looking a little poofy but you're right, not so bad! Get LOTS of rest and take care of yourself while all of these wonderful nurses are taking care of her. You're going to need it! Praying so much for these first 24 hours to be uneventful! Well done you guys.

Your Grandma is so sweet.

Those pics are hard to look at, but you'll be glad you have them in the long run. She is a beautiful girl. Glad you had such a great surgeon to help make things a little easier.

You guys are amazing, I just dont know what I would do in that tough situation. Prayers for you all. Seriously, call me if you ever need to just let it out to someone else. :)
