Guess who got the day off today! Andrew! Guess who's working tonight instead! Andrew! Guess what that means! GIRL'S NIGHT!
Us girls partied crazy tonight. Mac 'n Cheese and watermelon for dinner, cookies and cherry twizzler nubs for dessert, and a mani/pedi for Ella Jane complete with star toes (basically I did a rather poor job at painting stars on with another color.) Of course we did all our eating picnic style in front of the TV. Ella's first movie, Nightmare Before Christmas. That was during dinner and the cookie part of dessert. Her second choice, Princess and the Frog, during the nibs and mani/pedi part of the night. And naturally, once the paint was dry it was time to dance. Livie woke up for the dancing portion of the evening, though she was content to sit on the couch and watch. We got some amazing smiles out of her so even though she missed half of the party she had her fun too.
On an unrelated note, I wasn't sure if I'd be able to do it but I managed to get Livie to self-soothe. With Ella I let her cry it out and that worked grand. With Livie, I can't do that. Well, I don't know if it's actually a no-no in the heart world but she does turn a little blue if she gets peeved enough and I know that's not a good thing so I don't let her cry anymore than I have to. I figured I'd just end up having to rock her to sleep every night for the next 18 years but I managed to figure out a few tricks. A. The music helps A TON! B. The binky helps A TON (once she's asleep though, she spits it right out.) and C. The girl is just like her big sister and LOVES her bed. Surprising to me, she doesn't really like her swing...or the bouncer. She prefers to sprawl out on the couch if she's going to nap in the living room. But her ideal spot is snug in her bed.
