Lock-Down

Dear Friends and Family,
Just a friendly reminder that we have started our winter lock-down.  Since this is new for all of us, I'm going to lay down a few ground rules.  All of which are approved/recommended by Olivia's pediatrician.  So if you think any of them are a little over board, take it up with him. :)

1. If you are sick, don't bother coming over.  I won't let you in.  I also won't let you in if a) you feel something coming on b) you're just getting over something.  I need complete and utter germ free air around my baby.
2.  If you are going to be around Olivia more than others (so this is directed at grandparents, Randi and Tera etc.)  You need to get a flu shot and make sure you've gotten the tdap vaccination (for pertussis aka whooping cough.)
3.  If you have been around anyone that has been ill, please don't come over.  Even if you don't have any symptoms, you could still be carrying those germs.
4.  We will not be allowing any large groups of people in our home.  Also, we will not be attending larger gatherings.  At least not as a whole family.  We don't want to risk someone bringing something into our home or coming home with something ourselves.
5.  When you do come to visit, I will force you to wash and sanitize your hands.
I think that's about it.  This winter is supposed to be really bad for the flu and I can't take any chances.  My goal is to keep Olivia out of the hospital until her next surgery, however unrealistic that may be.  If she gets sick, it's more likely than not that she will end up in the hospital.  If you don't see us out and about much this winter that is why.  We love you all and will miss the holiday partying so feel free to steal us some goodies and bring them by.  Provided you're not sick.  Love you all!

Winter lockdown is so tough, but it is worth it! Just remember that it won't be forever and that the older she gets the easier winters and flu season will be on you all! My best advise is to develop a few "safe" places where you can go for a change of scenery. Grandma's house was my life line. They were as cautious as we were and made sure that their home was a place we could go to escape. Pinterest is my friend in the winter! :)

Smart Momma! I made grandparents get the pertussis vaccine before they come for Evelynn's blessing. I dont have a high risk baby like you, but I think you are so smart. We'll have to send you a winter fun package.
