2 Years, 1 Month

Ella wearing a playdough mustache.

I thought about cutting down on the monthly updates now that Ella is two but she is still growing in leaps and bounds so I changed my mind.

Ella talks more and more every day. She loves to tell us what everyone is doing (who's not with us) For example, Uncle Bobby is always sleeping according to her. She also has figured out who goes with who. So when we say we're going to see Grandma she'll say "Grampa too?" Or "Mike too?" Same thing with if we say we're going to see Aunt Cyndi, "Bobby too?"

Ella loves singing and is often caught singing "I love to see the temple" and "Eensy weensy spider." She also loves counting. She's understands what it is too for the most part. She understands how many one two and three are but after that I think it gets a little too complicated.

Ella loves playing with me. Playdough, coloring, supermanning etc. It's always better with mommy. The playdough mustache was my idea but she thought it was pretty awesome. She really loves to "supawhy". I think the "why" comes from the PBS show. Basically I hold her hands, she puts her tummy on my feet and I lift her in the air with my legs and sing the superman theme. She loves it and now when she wears my nursing cover as a cape she'll run around the house singing the superman tune.

Ella loves makeup! Ever since Halloween when I let her wear "tinkerbell makeup" she goes gaga over the stuff. For Halloween she just got some glitter. But I often find her going through the bathroom covers looking for makeup. Last night I hosted a MaryKay party and the girl went nuts! I let the sales rep put some lip gloss and rouge on her and Ella was so excited. All night long she kept saying "Ooo pi-ey", meaning pretty.

Ella is so sassy! I am often told that she's just like her mother but I really dont' think I'm THAT sassy. The girl is a little ball of fire. Funny story, which was already posted on facebook but whatever. I was getting her ready for her bath one evening and took off her diaper. It was wet but due to my sensitive nose it smelled very strong to me. So I said "Ooo stinky bum, Ella!" She then turns around, sticks her bum at me and shakes it at me. Then every time we want to change her diaper she takes off running. Either before we've started or as soon as the diaper is off. Luckily, she doesn't do this when she's poopy. Often times she'll be trying to do something, then I'll try to help her and she immediately says "No mommy! I do it!" She's just so independant and because of that her sass really shows for most of the day. It's very cute and I'm glad that my girl is turning out to be confidant but sometimes....

We're working on her patience skills. She's pretty good and doesn't throw tantrums very often but everyone has their bad days.

Ella has the best imagination. I'm starting to wonder if she has imaginary friends. The other night while I was singing to her before bed she asks for a "marshall" meaning marshmallow. I just ignored her and kept singing. She holds her hand out to the room and says "marshall pease." A few seconds later "tank oo" and then she starts snacking on her pretend marshmallow. She did this several times til she'd had enough of her pretend snack and then asked to go to bed.

Ella is learning all about "Saa Cause" and ever since she found out he brings "pressies" she loves the man. While we're at the store she sees all the Chrismas merchandise and points out Santa on all the posters, wall decorations, food items etc. She is so excited! And when we tell her that Santa will bring her presents she remembers her best friend and will ask "Ama too?" So we assure her that Adam will also get a visit from Santa Clause. She is getting so excited for "Me-ey Kissmus" and her presents. She has already made me help her make a list of what she wants. On it so far are: "choo choo twain", "wainbow", and "bobbie" aka barbie. Haven't quite figured out how I'm going to work the rainbow angle but we'll figure it out. We will also be getting her a picture of the Logan Temple and Salt Lake Temple for her room.

The girl is obsessed with temples. She'll make us drive all the way around the logan temple whenever we head that way. Of course we oblige. How could we say no when something so wonderful is one of her favorite things.

And our last bit of big news! Ella has upgraded beds once more! My aunt was getting rid of a twin bed so we thought that would be a good Christmas present for Ella. Except that once we got the bed here we weren't sure where to put it so we put it in her room. There wasn't a sheet so we were planning on having her still sleep on the toddler bed and she'd get sheets along with the quilt I'm making for her for Christmas. That didn't fly. Once the bed was in there she HAD to sleep on it. So she will still be getting a quilt from mommy for Christmas but the sheets she got on Monday and she is one happy big girl.
