Livie's 1.5 hour appointment turned into a 3 hour appointment today. I am pooped!
The appointment went well, but there will definitely be a cath in a couple weeks.
Olivia started with the routine stuff. Xray, EKG, and sats check. Xray was beautiful, EKG was beautiful, sats were (frustratingly) beautiful. Frustrating because at home they haven't been. They tried Livie on room air and still, they were fantastic. Of course, they only left her off for like two minutes. I explained that I didn't feel comfortable with those readings so we left her off for another hour while Livie got Pacey checked (perfect) and a surprise echo.
The reason behind the echo is Livie's liver is low (enlarged.) In the past this has indicated the beginning stages of failure, effusions, etc. So it could mean a few different things. The echo gave us at least one possible reason for this issue. Her function looked good (great big sigh of relief) but the gradient through her fenestration was a 9 where they normally like a 4 or 5. So, a little too much blood is making its way through and that means it is time for a cath.
I have emailed Dr. Pinto with some questions/concerns I thought up on the drive home (I am not one of those that can think of my questions on the spot.) Hopefully her response is filled with lots of good, happy answers, but there will be a fair amount of stress over the next little while.
On the plus side, because Olivia's sats were good we're trying her back on the 1/2 liter. Hopefully she can maintain it.
Prayers are, as always, welcome as we get ready for yet another procedure. We will also be fasting for Livie the first Sunday of November for those who would like to join.
