We have a new record! We have been home for two whole weeks and Livie is still peeing and being her happy self (well, she's three, so the happiness is intermittent but age appropriate.) With being home we are not only getting used to the post-fontan normal, but another normal. SCHOOL!
First Day of Kindergarten 2015
This girl was so excited for kindergarten. She swore up and down she wasn't nervous, but she really fought getting her picture taken. Normally she loves it for stuff like this so I'm guess she was a little more nervous than she'd care to admit. But with two days under her belt, she's feeling braver and is loving school and her teacher.
First Day of Preschool 2015
Yesterday was nothing short of a miracle. None of us, including Ms. Tamara, were sure if Livie would be able to attend the first day with the rest of the students. But she made it! We made it! I took up the first little bit of preschool teaching the other kids about Livie's heart. They got to feel her oxygen, get their sats checked just like Livie, see what Pacey looks like, and see her scars. The kids, from what I could tell, thought it was all pretty cool. I'm so happy that Ms. Tamara had me come talk with them. And Ms. Tamara is well on her way to being a pro oxygen mule like the rest of us heart moms. We are so lucky to have a preschool teacher as amazing as her. She came to visit Livie in the hospital and has been so understanding with Livie going to school on oxygen, letting me talk to the parents at orientation about Livie's heart vs. their sick kids, and not being potty trained (so glad I didn't tackle that task before surgery. These diuretics would've definitely undone all our progress.) I believe in miracles, and I believe that Tamara is one of ours. Yesterday was hard for me for the sole fact that my baby is starting school, but it was an incredible blessing for which I will forever be thankful.
As for the last bit of the title of today's entry, I'm fall cleaning. I like things in threes, so I had to think of another piece for the title. And it's somewhat related. Fall cleaning keeps me from dwelling on the fact that I'm getting old and my children are venturing out of the nest. I won't actually bore you with details, but just know, my house will smell nice and clean if you come to visit anytime soon.
