Day 4: For yesterday, I'm grateful for my ancestors. I've got some greats. An engaged couple from Sweden who got married on the boat over to the US of A because the captain didn't want any hanky panky on his ship. A pioneer who chewed/ate the leather from his boots to keep from starving as he crossed the plains. Several different Sarah Janes to whom I owe my name. A grandmother who had to leave her three children 4 and under home alone to go give birth to my mother while her husband was flying in the air force. (She tried to get the neighbor but they were asleep so she left a laundry basket on their porch and they did find and take over watch of the kids.) I have another grandmother who was a band nerd just like me, loves reading just like me, and was homecoming queen...not like me. And of course my parents and thousands more.
I'm currently working on a collage wall of family and finally made some progress on Monday. I hung three fantastic pictures of family. There's something so comforting having my grandparents, Andrew's grandparents, and my own gracing our wall. I still have more to print and hang and am so excited for the opportunity.
I come from good stock, as does Andrew. Without the amazing people that came before I wouldn't be the person I am.
Day 5: For today, fooooooood....I am a big fan of food. I love cooking it (most of the time) I love finding new recipes (most of the time) I love eating it (all the time.) Last night was chicken noodle soup with homemade noodles. Sunday was rosemary garlic chicken (and pheasant, provided by Andrew and his hunting skills.) I have many favorites, few dislikes, and tons of love for the delicious concoctions I am able to whip up on a regular basis. Diet is not my cup of tea. New healthier recipes are and I have found I am able to enjoy eating healthy. And of course, a little unhealthy too. Everything in moderation in my book. Now if you'll excuse me, it's time to eat some tasty toast for breakfast.
