My Tumbling Girl

I've been surprised at how different Ella is looking now that her top two teeth are finally growing in. I don't think I'll ever get used to her looking older every day. It's just so crazy how much everything changes so quickly. But also, it's amazing watching these little humans grow.
Ella really has grown a ton this school year. I can't believe that it's almost over, and I almost have a second grader. I can't believe she's starting to plan her eighth birthday, that I have purchased the pattern for her baptism dress, and that she is reading chapter books (a bit begrudgingly at times, but we're gunna work on finding the joy in reading this summer.)
Ella impresses me every day with all that she is. Last night was a particularly proud mommy moment for me. She had her tumbling performance and did so well. Ella has a tendency to get really shy in front of a crowd, but she didn't this time. She went through her routine and during her second circuit even opted out of using the rolling pad when doing her back handspring. I was so proud of her for trying and pushing herself in front of all the parents. She's sad that tumbling is over for the year, but we'll be putting her in the summer tumbling workshop and next year she is advancing to the intermediate group. I'm so excited to see how much she progresses then.
While Ella takes a break from tumbling, we'll be filling our summer with a bunch of other fun. The plan is to do swimming lessons, piano lessons, and of course all the usual summer fun. Ella is very excited. She still wants to play the violin but I've told her she has to learn piano first, so to her, lessons are the next step in becoming Lindsey Stirling. If all goes well, she may be getting a violin for her 9th birthday.
With school winding down, Ella has also been getting ready for all the end of year fun. Her school does a concert and she has been thrilled to bits and pieces with the song her class is singing, "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" Naturally, this means we've been watching a lot of Wizard of Oz. Not to mention, Ms. Kirby, her teacher, read Wizard of Oz to them this past month. So, I've received a lot of drawings of houses in tornadoes lately. It's been fun. Ella is also getting ready to be in her first parade with her jump rope club, and is finally getting to go on a field trip in two weeks. There's lots to be excited for at the end of the year.
Ella is my emotional, beautiful, energetic girl. She can be quite difficult, but also incredibly sweet. She is such a great big sister. I absolutely love listening to her and Livie play and giggle in the other room (though when they're supposed to doing their chores I get a little frustrated.) Ella loves holding Abby and is incredibly sweet with her. Unfortunately, Ella is also a goofball so whenever I try to capture those sweet looks between Big Sis and Baby, Ella spoils it with cross eyes or something equally silly...little stinker. I love my Ella Jane and am so excited to get her all to myself this summer. Hooray!

She is always wanting to hold Abby. We are even letting her carry Abby around a tiny bit and she feels super impressive about that.

Ella recently learned about using objects to measure other objects. Naturally, this means you need to measure baby sis with mega blocks.

Because playing computer with sisters is the best.

Oh yeah, we cut her hair.

Her tumbling performance.

And daddy brought her a rose.
