Head In the Clouds

Olivia is very much my laid back, doesn't care, head in the clouds girl. I'm hoping this means she's an avid reader at least, but for now it just means it takes ALL day to get her to clean three things off her bedroom floor. Oi! She just doesn't care. We've implemented a bean jar as motivation. She gets a bean when she cleans up her pull-ups in the morning, her wet clothes after an accident (the meds have helped with that, but we're having to re-potty train basically) when she goes potty, when she cleans up after herself etc. We have a Skipper and pony barbie set sitting by her bean jar and once that jar is full, she gets her. But, we take beans out when she doesn't do what she's been asked. So, it's a very slow process at the moment. I'm hoping by the end of the summer...but this girl likes to do things on her own schedule. Her poor kindergarten teacher...
Yes, she is getting ready for kindergarten. It's rather heartbreaking. I'm going to miss having my little side-kick with me (although, it will be nice to have some one on one with Abby.) Liv has been my hobby lobby/lunch buddy for so long now though. But she is incredibly excited. She is in a rush to grow up.
Olivia has recently found some new passions. #1 being the piano. She's rather upset with me at the moment because I won't put her in lessons yet (not until she can read.) But she plays the piano all the time! I sent her in to go potty when we were outside the other day and the second the door closed behind her I hear the piano. I had to poke my head in and tell her to GO POTTY. Her response was, "I just had to play the piano real quick, mom." She just makes up her own songs, and every once in a while she'll say, "Mom, the piano didn't play what I wanted it to." Ya know, when it doesn't sound good I guess. I love it.
Liv loves watching movies, playing with Abby, and playing in the sand box. She has discovered the joy of playing with friends, one in particular. She is sweet, and often tender-hearted. Lately, when she gets in trouble, she is actually affected. I don't know which is worse. Her smile that said, "I'll never be in trouble." or the heartbreaking cry she does now. Ah well. At least we know she won't be a spoiled brat when she grows up.
In other news, on Easter, I got a text that said Olivia's wish to Disneyworld had officially been granted. To break the news to Liv, her wish granters are going to throw her a princess party and have Snow White tell her. We'll be doing it for her birthday. Words can't express what this means to mean, let alone what it will mean to her. When I got the text with their plan, I bawled. When it comes to my children, sharing things that are special to me makes me very emotional. I cry every year watching the Macy's Parade when Santa comes out (I believed in Santa for longer than I probably should have.) I cry when we watch childhood favorites. I cry watching them see the first snow of the season, singing in their primary program, etc. And I don't cry much. I am a child at heart. To me, Disneyland is the most magical place on earth, and being able to share that with my girls makes me incredibly emotional. Sharing it with Olivia, my baby who has gone through so much? I'm going to be an absolute mess. So, this party will only include us and grandparents. It will be to sacred an experience. But don't worry, I will be recording everything and I will share.
My Olivia. We're at such a good place right now. She has the bladder issues, but I can deal with that. She is healthy, and happy, and energetic. Yes, I see the little symptoms of her heart. She has less energy, she wakes up puffy some mornings, and she still gets blue from time to time. But she is healthy. And she is turning five. In a matter of weeks my baby girl will turn five! This is a huge milestone for her. Not only because of kindergarten and all the normal kid stuff, but because of the statistics. 50% of HLHSers have either had a transplant or didn't make it by the age of 5. But she made it. Miracles are real and here's the proof.

She loves her baby sis.

She had her first dance performance at an old folks home and did amazing.

And she's silly.

That face!

We cut her hair too.
