Introducing the Surgeon!

Olivia had a fantastic surgeon for her Norwood (OHS #1) and the Glenn (OHS #2) Dr. Kaza was amazing. He was sweet, attentive, and honest. When he came out from Liv's first surgery he showed Ella pictures of his wife because he thought they looked alike. He always stopped when he'd see us in the cafeteria or hall and chat. He checked on Olivia during every hospital stay. EVERY SINGLE ONE. But sadly, he left us for Boston Children's Hospital a couple years ago. Recently a friend had to trek out there for her sons OHS and did a favor for me by telling Dr. Kaza hi. And he remembered us and Livie. Now that's pretty stinking amazing.
So here we are, getting ready for the next one and no money to go to BCH for Livie's fontan. That leaves us with the surgeons at PCH. I've heard excellent things about all of them but have still been nervous. Surgeons aren't known for their bedside manner and we lucked out with Dr. Kaza.
So, today I found out who we got. Dr. Aaron Eckhauser will be Olivia's surgeon. Naturally I went to the heart mom's for feedback and am seeing a trend. Honest and straightforward (which can be scary but is appreciated) kind and patient, and he wears chucks and has scruff. All my friends know I appreciate a little scruff (now we know why Andrew never shaves.) And chucks? That's just awesome. Also, he trained at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Most heart mom's know CHOP is second only to BCH in the cardiac world so I'd say we're definitely in good hands.
Lame update, I know, but some of my friends (*ahem* Bethany *ahem*) have confessed to checking everyday for updates so here you go. Also, if you're really curious, you can look up Dr. Eckhauser on the PCH website.

I'm so glad you have another great DR. Your ped., Dr. Glade, did some training/residency at the Philly children's hospital. Didn't know if you knew that.
