To say Ella likes monsters is an understatement. I knew she was going to be drawn to the macabre fairly early on when she fell in love with Nightmare Before Christmas or when she'd tell me she wanted to see my blood. Forget Dorothy, Ella wants to be the wicked witch. So, the other day Ella was sitting at the table and says, "Mom, will Heavenly Father let me be a vampire?" I had to explain to her that vampires weren't real and no, she couldn't be. The girl has been upset ever since.
Needless to say, Ella loves scary movies. She loves the strong female characters, even if that means they're the bad guys.
Ella's big development lately is reading. Ella has been doing well in school learning her letters and such so I haven't worried about her reading at all. Apparently she has though. She started saying she wanted to learn so I decided, what the heck. We read scriptures as a family by coaching the girls through a verse or two. So I just started having Ella sound out the smaller words. She now recognizes "and" and "I" by sight and has gotten very good at sounding out the other small words. She's well on her way and is loving it.
I found some notes in my phone about funny things Ella has said. I'm not sure I've posted them on here so I'm going to now. Apologies if you've heard them before.
"I'm going to love you for a hundred million years. Even when I'm a stinker." Since then her love has apparently decreased. Now she says she loves me 152. When I ask Livie how much she loves me she loves me she says "2" so I guess Ella still loves me more than that. Can't complain.
One day we were at my in-laws for dinner and Andrew's mom asked what we wanted to drink. Ella yells, "Beetle Juice!" I laughed a good long while.
For Christmas, I got one of my friends a golden snitch necklace. It opens to reveal a watch. Ella, not having seen the final movie or read the last book asked to see my wedding ring one day. I asked why and she explained she wanted to put it inside Randi's snitch. I was very proud. Apparently her mind works like Ms. Rowlings.
Ella has been registered for kindergarten and is so excited. It's surreal. My baby is going to kindergarten? How did that happen? I'm excited for her but I will miss having company during Olivia's naps. Ella is such a little beauty, inside and out. I feel incredibly blessed to have her.
