My kid is awesome. In case you didn't already know. Ella is such an independent little stinker. She can really drive me bonkers but then she can turn around and be the sweetest thing in the world.
For example, Ella likes to postpone bedtime by "Mommy! I'm scared" or "Mommy, will you snuggle me?" or any other excuse to not sleep she can think of. The most common is, "Mommy, can I have some water?" One night I got her some and once she was done I took her cup and gave her a hug. As I'm hugging her she says, "Mmmm, better than water." How can I stay upset/frustrated after that? And I'm pleased to say, though it's not always in a clever way like that, she often expresses her love for us.
Other than loving us like crazy she is also very supportive. On one occasion Ella was watching Andrew play a game on his phone. Probably Angry Birds. He'd miss and she's say, "It's okay daddy. I know it's hard. It's hard for me too sometimes."
And then there was this evening. We were all ready for prayer and she had just gotten herself situated. It was her turn to pray and we were waiting. She was a little winded and says, "I'm just waiting for my voice to calm down."
As sweet as she is, she still has a crazy sense of humor. This girl makes me giggle. For my facebook followers you've hear this but I still want to share. Ella has imaginary friends. There's the pretend Adam who's here often. Then there's other ones with made up names. One day we turned on pirates and Ella decided she had a pirate imaginary friend. She named him Black Shower. I think she got the name because it rhymes with Jack Sparrow sorta. Either way, I still have a good giggle over it.
Dinner time for Ella can be a little difficult. She's not a picky eater per se. She just would rather be doing anything other than eating. We usually have a mini battle getting her to eat at least something. One day she was being particularly difficult and finally said, "Mommy, it's ok if you pick up my food and put it in my mouth." But she wasn't about to do it herself.
After dinner when she's actually eaten well she's so proud of herself and will have me look at her plate. I'll ask where her food is. She'll tell me it's in her tummy. One evening I asked her what it was doing in there and her response, "Oh, just resting."
When I sing "Baby Mine" (from Dumbo) she likes to do her own little actions. The last verse says "From your head to your toes" and she'll point to her head, then toes. It continues "You're so sweet, goodness knows" In her version it's a little different. She says, "This is my goodness nose" and points to her nose. It makes me giggle and is so cute.
I'm a proud mama. Ella loves Halloween and has been getting in the spirit by watching halloween movies and shows. Last year they were "Boo" movies. This year they are either halloween movies or, my personal favorite, "spoosky" movies.
Ella also loves her snack time. We usually just have crackers of some sort. Depending on Ella's mood she'll either have a graham cracker or "a cracker with the graham."
Ella is such a sweet little handful. She's gotten so good at doing her chores (cleaning room, brushing teeth, emptying silverware from dishwasher etc) She is an excellent snuggler, amazing dancer, and a fantastic dresser. I'm loving getting ready for her 4th birthday in a month. I can't believe it! So crazy weird!
