Unusual/24 Weeks

First off, Happy Valentines! For those of you who hate V-Day because you're single, don't hate it! It's a day to celebrate all kinds of love. The ancient Greeks had a ton of different words for love because there are so many kinds. For example, my love for Andrew and my love for Ella differ greatly. And there's my little soap box moment.
Andrew and I started the day off by dropping Elly off at Gramma's. We then headed down to Mckay-Dee to meet our Maternal Fetal Specialist, Dr. Major. I was super nervous because I wasn't sure if we were going to get more bad news. But, NO BAD NEWS! We did another ultrasound and this one was awesome! First off, the tech seemed to be a lot better than the one at our initial ultrasound. Second, their machine seemed to be a lot better. And third, our girl cooperated...sort of. She'd been super quiet all morning but as soon as the gel was on my stomach she went bonkers. It was pretty funny. I'm beginning to think she's getting used to the poking and prodding. Good, since she'll get lots more of that. So we got really great views of everything and EVERYTHING IS PERFECT!!! Except her heart, of course. One thing I was super worried about was the rest of her insides. The initial u/s results were favorable but since they couldn't see everything perfectly I was still super worried. No more worries in that area! And on top of that piece of good news we got to see our little girls face for the first time. It wasn't in 3D but we got some amazing shots with the regular view. From past experience, u/s mostly showed skeleton/skull so actually seeing her face was so cool. They printed off more pictures for us and also gave us a DVD of the whole thing. So since the last u/s was crap we will now have some good pictures to scrapbook.
After the tech was finished we finally got to meet the Dr. who will most likely be delivering Olivia, Dr. Major. She gave us some more of the same speech about what our future would look like and what her role will be in it. She will be monitoring Olivia's growth (she is still measuring a few days ahead of schedule! Yay for my good growing girl!) and other developments. The cardiologist will obviously be focusing on her heart. And I still get to go to Dr. Firth (at least until 32-36 weeks)! He gets to do the regular prenatal appointments. So, once a month for Dr. Major and Dr. Firth and twice more with the cardiologist. And there'll be an u/s at every appointment with Dr. Major. As much as the heart defect sucks, it's kind of exciting getting to see her once a month.
So, for the unusual portion of my title. I'm kind of excited about this. As Dr. Major was looking at Livy's heart she said some sort of medical jargon that I didn't understand and don't remember. Something about apex? Or something...Anyway, what it came down to was Olivia does have more of the left ventricle than Dr. Major was expecting or is used to. It's still underdeveloped and her diagnosis is the same but she did mention there was blood flow going through it which is very unusual but good. It doesn't really change anything. She'll still have to have the surgeries etc. but it's gotten me excited because I'm thinking, if her heart's in better condition than they're used to then she's going to be a little champ in surgery.
So that was a nice way to start off my Valentines. The rest of the day has been spent napping, eating, and hopefully the non-cook cheesecake I made turns out...Andrew got his two Valentines tulips and Dumbo. Can you guess who got what? And now, I must go to my man. I might even get him to watch a chick flick tonight! Wish me luck!

Sounds like a great appointment all around and hooray for being allowed to have your routine prenatal appointments in Logan! Let me know if you want to connect with some heart moms who are in cache valley! I know a handful who would probably love to meet you!
