If I am lucky, and truly blessed, four more weeks and this baby will be out of me! We shall see. At the very least, four more weeks and mommy and doctor will be doing everything possible to get the ball rolling. At least everything short of pitocin. I would really love to not be induced this time.
So, at my 34 week appointment things are still looking great. (If these posts are coming more frequently, it is because we are on the bi-monthly schedule now.) I have gained a couple pounds (right on target) my blood pressure is great, and I'm measuring right on target.
Dr. Horsley (who went all out on his warlock costume, btw, and it was awesome) informed me that next time will be the lovely strep b test...not so exciting. But! We will also start checking my cervix which, though uncomfortable, is exciting. Just means we're that much closer. Wahoo! We also chatted a bit more about labor and delivery. Epidural or no: I am choosing to see how things go, but would like to try natural. I stopped progressing at a five the last two times until I got an epidural. I'm assuming I was just too tense so I'm hoping that no pitocin will help with that. But, we will see. I also informed him about how quickly I progress once I do reach that final stage. He set my mind at ease by informing me that he lives two minutes away from the hospital and wrote in my notes to call him a little earlier than normal when the time comes. He is aware of how ready I am to have this baby too so we will be stripping the membrane at 38 weeks and seeing what we can do to get things moving. I'm really hoping to have this baby that first weekend of December. Fingers crossed. I also asked about working out again and was given the go ahead to start at 4 weeks postpartum IF I feel up to it and don't tear too bad. Also, postpartum girdles. Someone recommended one so I asked if there were any specific benefits (from an actual doctor, because I know some people recommend things after doing it once, but that TOTALLY makes them an expert...) He says there are no medical benefits, but it can help you to feel a little more stable afterwards. So, I might try it...but he also mentioned that because of my size and fitness level he expects me to bounce back quickly. That gave me the feel goods. It's always nice having someone (other than your family and friends who love you no matter what) say stuff like that. So, that was my appointment. It was short, and sweet. Oh, and Abby's still feisty. She kicked the doppler pretty good. She really doesn't like getting poked.
