18 weeks

So sorry to my loyal (4) readers who have been anxiously awaiting our usual monthly updates. It's only a month and a half late. Oi! Summer is kicking my quickly expanding (pregnant) tushy.
And since we're speaking of pregnant, we'll have this be my pregnancy update. Since my last post on the subject I have had another appointment in which there was a healthy little heart beat. We also found out from my blood work from the first appointment that I am no longer immune to chicken pox. So, if you have it, stay away.
We also chatted with the doc on getting me on some decent meds. See, my morning sickness just morphed into killer acid reflux. We tried prescription prilosec which did nothing. We doubled that dose and added zantac on top. Still nothing. So now, I am on nexium. Sadly, insurance is being difficult and we can't/won't pay the $200+ for it so we're doubling the over the counter stuff until insurance gets with the program (hopefully!) Either way, I am finally getting some relief. It's not perfect, but I can sleep laying down most nights so we'll count that as a win.
Sadly, reflux hasn't been my only issue this go around. When the reflux isn't front and center in my complaints I have others. My sciatica, round ligaments, hip joints all currently hate me. This one I am definitely chocking up to age. Luckily, I have been doing prenatal yoga which helps. Days I don't do it are always more painful. Of course, the round ligament pain is comforting. It just means my uterus is growing, and thus, so is baby.
Enough of the whining. All in all, I don't have it as rough as some. I'm still having the occasional bouts of morning sickness, but I never vomit. The reflux is annoying, but manageable. And the teenage acne seems to have settled down. Oh, and I'm also not huge yet so, yay! Tummy time is still possible for this mama.
And the best for last! Baby is moving! I was feeling Livie quite well early on (around 12 weeks.) Andrew even felt her moving around at 17 weeks. This little one on the other hand has been quieter. I was starting to panic over it and everything. (Ask Andrew. I was very annoying about it.) I was coming up with all the theories as to why. Baby's position, me being bigger than I was with Liv (I started ten pounds heavier this go around) etc. Who knows? And of course, it doesn't matter anymore because over the last week, and the last couple days especially, baby is making his/her presence known. Hallelujah! Within the next few days Andrew might even be able to feel a little nudge. We'll see.
Our next appointment is the big one. Well, the first of the big ones. Next Wednesday (the 20th) is the fetal scan with maternal fetal medicine. Needless to say, I'm scared out of my pants. Or at least I would be if I still fit in them. This scan will be more in depth than a normal ultrasound as we check everything. Prayers that the beautiful little cross that indicates four chambers are there would be appreciated. Of course we'll find out gender during this appointment too and while we would like a boy, we are more concerned with health. No matter what the news is next week, good or bad, we will be heading down to primary's on August 9th for a fetal echo just to double check. It's gunna be a stressful couple of weeks, but we've gotten pretty good at managing stress so it's all good.
