When Grown Ups Play

Sadly, Andrew and I have spent the last two weekends apart.  Not sadly, we both had tons of fun.  Naturally, it would've been more fun if we would've had the other with us.  Next year should be epic.
Let's start with two weekends ago.  We were invited to take one last Island Park trip with the in-laws before the end of the season.  Sadly, we were to be teaching on Sunday so I decided to stick around here with Livie and send Andrew and Ella Jane.  Then I had a better idea.  My parents are only two hours away vs the four hours for Island Park.  I could pop on down there, go to the Timpanogas Storytelling fesitval, then pop right back up here in time for Sunday morning.  Livie and I hopped in the car and began the drive.  The drive ended around the point of the mountain when my transmission all the sudden stopped working.  Luckily, we were close to my parents exit so a knight in shining armor, aka dad/bompa, came to the rescue.  Then we bought fancy cheese to sooth my grumpy spirit and spent the night watching Dr. Who.  It ended up being a wonderful evening, even with the stress of the car.  Saturday was absolutely amazing.  The storytelling festival is one of my favorite things of all times and I haven't been since Andrew and I were first married.  Not to mention, a daddy-daughter date that I haven't been on since before I was married.  Because of the car situation I had to find a sub for church so was able to attend church with my mom.  Liv and I ran into a couple of old friends in the halls during sacrament meeting which was fun.  That evening another knightess in shining armor, aka Auntie Bethany, came to our rescue.  She drove down from Ogden, picked us up, then drove us back up to Richmond.  Then she kept me calm when I realized my keys didn't have the right house key on.  Luckily, the garage window was open so I just had to climb through the window.  In a skirt.  I tucked the skirt in so it made some lovely Aladdin pants and Bethany was nice enough not to snap a picture.  I hopped through and we made it in.  Then I made Bethany watch Austenland with me and we laughed and had tons of fun.  It was an extremely healing weekend after having someone really hurt my feelings previously that week.
As for Andrew's part of the weekend, his fishing trip weekend turned into movie watching and a couple of drives.  He still had fun being with his family but was extremely disappointed by the constant rain interrupting his fishing time.

This past weekend was mostly fun for me, but Andrew's catching up with a lot of hunting this week.  Friday morning, bright and early Bethany came and picked me up (the car is still out) and we headed down to geek out for the weekend.  We picked up another bestie, Auntie Shannon, and headed down to Salt Lake for comic con.  Since it was my first time I followed them around like a little puppy dog and had an absolute blast.  I was only scheduled to go Friday but Shannon accidentally got an extra ticket and so gave me her Saturday pass.  Which was good because Saturday is when I met my favorite author, Shannon Hale!  I got three books and my Austenland movie signed.  We went to a few panels that were absolutely a blast and laughed all weekend long.  I got Andrew a souvenir and me too of course.  Andrew is so sweet for being such a good sport about me extending my stay.  He stayed home with the girls on Saturday, my mom stayed with them on Friday.  And I got to play.  How lucky am I?  Hopefully all this playing gets me through the long cold winter of being stuck indoors.
