That is Livie's philosophy apparently. The girl is crazy! So, if I didn't mention when posting about her picc line she wouldn't sedate for that. They tried. They failed. The girl opted to scream bloody murder as they guided that thing through her veins.
Today, Olivia had her first sedated echo. The echo is just a regular ol' echo. The sedation is to keep squirmy children still and calm so they can get really good pictures. I informed them that Liv was difficult to sedate so they decided to do a stronger sedative that would require some recovery time in the same day surgical recovery area. So that's what we did. And even that didn't work that great. The little stinker starts waking up half way through the echo and they had to give her some ketamin on top of what they had already given her. And she still started squirming a bit towards the end. But, once they were done with the echo she settled in for a nice nap. Slept off the sedatives and we are now home.
So, the results from today's echo are as follows. A narrowed pulmonary artery that may need stenting eventually but for now has good blood flow and is fine. A slightly leaking mitral valve that is also fine. And the most important, and the part that made me most nervous, a good function and squeeze! WOOHOO!
This was PCMC's final look at Liv's heart before our next big step. THE GLENN. In case you're counting down...TWO WEEKS, from yesterday. Holy hannah! I'm kinda freaking out. Also, kinda relieved that we've made it this far. I have been told by so many other mama's that life is almost normal after the glenn. If that's the case, I might actually get to enjoy this winter at home! What perfect timing! Originally (i.e. when we were first diagnosed) it was looking like the glenn would end up being right smack dab during the holidays. I can't tell you how much that thought churned my guts. So, in a way, thank heavens for bad sats! Those bad sats pushed us up to now and I will get to have Halloween, Thanksgiving, AND Christmas with both my girls, at home *fingers crossed* Of course there is always the chance we'll end up back at our home away from home but I'm going to remain optimistic and say that after the glenn we'll have far less hospital stays.
Speaking of this little girl, she's calling me. Still very tired after being sedated and not super happy. So, I will leave you with an adorable picture, because let's face it, that's really why you look at the blog.
