She HATES bugs. I tried very hard to get her excited about bugs. I didn't want a little pansy girl who couldn't kill her own spiders. I'm not a fan of spiders but I can take care of them myself. Well, this girl may not ever be able to. She sees a bug and starts doing her worry whimper and backing away. Spiders, box elder bugs, LADY BUGS? and anything with a few crawly legs. She does fine with butterflies and dragonflies. I'm guess the wings make them less threatening. Even ants! I don't get it. She's never had a traumatic experience with a bug. We don't watch scary bug movies. She just hates them.
Ella loves pink. Again, I never taught her that pink was for girls. Daddy even has a couple pink ties. Mommy rarely wears pink. And all of Ella's friends are boys so she doesn't have the influence of other girls telling her pink is a "girl color." Pink is the ONLY color Ella can remember. (She knows the names of colors but can't seem to match the right name and color together.) Her new favorite book is called Goldilicious. It's about a girl, named Pinkalicious, who has a pet unicorn named Goldilicious. Since it's a library book we threaten to take it back when she won't let us help her brush her teeth. And of course, this girl where's pink. At bath time she asks for the pink towel. When she's getting dressed she asks for the pink pants/shirt/dress etc. She loves wearing mommy's pink high heals around the house.
And there's the dresses. Oh my goodness. This girl would live in dresses if I let her. Luckily she has a tutu and that will suffice. She really loves wearing while watching her new favorite movie, Babes in Toyland. When she sees the girls in their twirly dresses she just has to get her tutu on and dance with them. Yesterday we played in the back yard. She got muddy. We came inside. She grabbed a dress and put it on over her muddy clothes. So she spent the evening wearing a nice lacy, pink, flowery dress with a muddy bum hidden underneath. While in her dresses she will dance and sing around the house. She'll find her Belle barbie (her other barbie isn't a princess so she won't do) and they'll dance til Ella gets tired. She twirls her skirts and tells daddy how pretty she is. Sunday is her favorite day of the week. Why? Because she gets to wear a dress ALL day. She loves picking her dress out for the day.
Sparkles, crowns and castles! She loves glitter. She has been asking for a crown for over a week now. And she wants to live in a castle (specifically, the Disneyland castle. I'm so proud!) Anytime she sees a Disneyland commercial she asks to go to the castle. If we watch a princess movie (which we do quite often; Beauty and the Beast is her favorite) she wants to go to a castle.
She is just such a girl. And I love it! It's so much fun watching her fall in love/hate with all these girly/non-girly things. I will of course support her in all her likes/dislikes (though I will continue to try getting her to eat her green beans!) and when she wants to fly like superman and wear her cape, I will let her. And when she wants to get a muddy bum, I will let her (provided she is wearing the appropriate play pants.) But can I just say, I am SOOOOOOO excited to take her and Olivia to Disneyland for the first time and see them meet Belle and the other princess' in person. FYI, we plan on going in about 4 years as a celebration vacation after Olivia's last (fingers crossed) surgery.
Other than the girly stuff, Ella is such a sassy little spitfire. She's got so much spunk and is such a little tease! For those facebook followers you may have seen my status yesterday. For those of you who didn't, here is what I wrote. I asked Ella was a lamb/sheep says. She looked at me like I was a crazy person. So I said "ba-a-a" and she then gets this big ol' smile on her face and says " 'Scuse you mommy!" And starts laughing like a maniac. She totally set that joke up! I didn't know 2-year-olds could do that! I think I already blogged this because it was a while ago but in case I didn't, there was one day Andrew and I were explaining what human beings were to Ella. We said, "Mommy and Daddy are human beings. And Ella is a human being too." She looks at us all serious like, purses her lips and then says, "No, I jumping bean."
She's full of all sorts of funny moments like these. She talks so much all the time and loves learning. She loves microphones and singing, chocolate and cookies, snuggling and playing. She amazes me everyday and I'm so excited to see her as a big sister and see what other aspects of her personality surface.

She sounds like so much fun! She reminds me of my little girl! I want another one so bad!!! She really is so cute, I love seeing the things she says, and watching her grow up in pictures! I swear she gets cuter everyday. I am with you, little girls and boys are they way the are because that is how they are made! I don't teach my boys or girls to act one way or the other, and I will tell you what Cambree is as girl as they come and Kayden is as boy as they come! Tyson is still young enough that he is happy don't anyhting, but is showing major signs of boys, he already drives cars around and makes the noise for them ha ha, he is barely 1! giiggle giggle kids are really so much fun!!
I can't believe how much she has grown in the short time that I have known you guys! She is adorable and I love watching all of the things she does. You guys are such a cute family. Olivia is getting the best of the best :) I can't wait to see if she ends up a lil girly girl like her big sister :)
