Our 4th of July was supposed to be spent driving home. We were originally going to be attending a family reunion in Colorado for my dad's family. Instead Andrew got scheduled for a bunch of jobs so we cancelled. Well, turns out we could have gone. The jobs got postponed but it was too late. So instead we kept ourselves busy here in good ol' Cache Valley.
We started out the celebrations on Friday with the car show. Ella and I enjoyed it but it was definitely more for Andrew. It was like seeing a little kid in a candy store. After we decided to go out for dinner. We went to El Sol here in Logan. It was my first time being there. It was good but not my favorite of the non fast food Mexican restaurants. I prefer El Toro Viejo in case you're wondering. They seem to be a little more authentic. Plus, they make their tortilla chips and El Sol definitely just got them out of a bag. Anyway, we then headed home for playing in the yard. Poor Ella. We kept her up for the fireworks. She loved them but she was sooooo sleepy. On a quick side note, our battle for bedtime has been won. She did really well with the toddler bed at first but after she got used to it she decided that she'd climb out of bed to play every night. So her 8 o'clock bedtime became 9 because we'd have to keep putting her back. Well since we wouldn't let her go to bed on Friday she has stayed in her bed every night. WE WIN!
On Saturday we had Andrew's family over for a barbecue. We did hot dogs but had a few requests for our oriental burger so we did those too. After dinner most of us headed down to main street for the parade. Ella was super hot and tired so didn't love it but she did enjoy the old sounding horns and learned to say "aooga"
Sunday, we just chilled for the most part. My old roommate Shannon and her husband and little boy came over for dinner. Still, pretty mellow.
Then Monday, Andrew was thinking we'd do nothing since we'd celebrated all weekend. But he married a crazy woman and I insisted on celebrating the 4th on the 4th. So we went to the Hyrum parade where there weren't any marching bands. BOO! But there were a lot of horses and taffy. So Ella enjoyed herself. For dinner we had barbecued chicken, salad with fresh from our garden lettuce and homemade rolls. But that's not the part that excited me. For dessert I went all out and made a peach pie, and french vanilla ice cream. I know...french vanilla isn't as patriotic sounding but it was soooo good. And that was our VERY busy weekend.

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY
On a quick side note. The picture of Ella on her uncle Bobby's shoulders is what she does when she tries doing the "rock on" and can't keep a straight face.
