For my Valentines today it's looking like I will be having a girl party. Due to Andrew's extremely full work schedule (and I'm not complaining) he is working in Heber all week. This means there may be a few nights he just stays with either my aunt who lives in heber or my parents who are about an hour closer than we are. But he says he'll be coming home tonight. It just won't be til late. But, back to the point! Because of this we celebrated valentines on Saturday. I tried being sneaky about asking him for a little extra "grocery" money but the man is not as dumb as he may sometimes pretend to be. He said no, knowing that I would use it for a Valentines present for him. I think he is trying to use this V-day to make up for the past few. See, last year we were both exhausted and poor due to the little one so we didn't really do anything special. The year before I had morning sickness and we got snowed in at Andrew's parents house (at the time all they had to heat the house was a pellet stove and it didn't do the best job ever) not to mention my father-in-law was in one of his moods. Probably the worst valentines ever. The year before that Andrew had the worst case of flu he has ever had so our original plans of going to the parade of homes in st. george were cancelled and I just watched girl movies while he was passed out on the couch. The year we were dating was good but we were both trying to impress each other at the time so what do you expect? So, after three bad v-days Andrew decided that I should plan our date night and he'd be the one getting me presents.
So, we went to Paris! Andrew's not a super cheesy guy so I wasn't sure how he was going to like it but he surprised me. We started out our date with me picking him up from work! Super fun, I know. But I showed up in a dress, heals, makeup done, and I even curled my hair (at least most of my hair. The curling iron somehow broke apart and now RIP's in the garbage can. But that's besides the point!) We came home and while Andrew showered I put Elly to bed. We then had chicken cordon bleu at our fancy restaurant overlooking the eiffel tower (I printed a bunch of pictures for this date and taped them up around the house) We then took a little trip to the Louvre (in our living room) where I was his ever so sophisticated tour guide (I printed out some little blurbs about the art that I had printed) We then went to Notre Dame (in our bedroom) and ended the night watching Count of Monte Cristo. I made him choose from our movies that take place in Paris, or France in general. I was SOOOO excited that he didn't choose Taken. That movie just is not very romantic...at all. It was a lot of fun and a nice simple, yet romantic, cheap date. I was going to take pictures of stuff but my camera is currently dead and I keep forgetting to charge it so, sorry. Anyway, Andrew claims he has more in store for me but he's not one for surprises so we'll see.
