Ahhh, cars. I've had mine almost a year. She's beautiful. A 2003 purple PT Cruiser. Andrew isn't such a fan but if I'm going to bear his children he's just going to have to live with the car I decide on. I say again, she is beautiful. No scartches or dents, nothing. But, as my mother always told me, "Don't judge a book by its cover." Or in this case a car by its exterior.
My car troubles began two weeks ago. We had just gotten back from California and I decided to go to the store. Instead I almost ran into someone's truck because my car wouldn't go into gear. So we're thinking transmission fluid. We were right. So we filled her up and she ran...sort of. So we took her in and she got leaking pipes. They replace the pipes for a mere $400. $100 in parts and $300 in labor. (Andrew has decided to take a class in mechanics and we'll just do it ourselves next time.) So she gets fixed.
This last weekend was conference and what better way to spend conference weekend then to go to my parents and get free food. So we drove down there and got stuck. Bye-bye transmission. Apparently when changing the pipes they didn't actually check the transmission and now it is dead.
It's actually still in the shop and we don't know for positive if it is the transmission but we're pretty sure. So there goes our tax return. Yippee! Even though this sucks, we're ok. I was really upset and crying about the whole thing a couple days ago but I've decided that it's not a big deal. True, it's a lot of money but I'm determined to be positive. Wish me luck.
