"Mommy, do I have preschool tomorrow?" Is the most common question I get. Needless to say, Christmas break was rough on Ella. She missed school so badly and is so happy to be back. And I am too.
Ella's most recent thing is helping with chores. She's been cleaning her own room for a long time now but she's decided it's time for her to start helping by cleaning her own bathroom and dusting. And of course, I am happy to oblige.
Ella has been practicing her letters and numbers like crazy and often will write nonsense and ask me what it says. She's so excited to start reading and tells me about all the books she'll read when she's big.
Ella still has that amazing sense of humor too. We went to visit gramma and grandpa one night and got asked what we wanted to drink with dinner. Ella's response, "Beetlejuice!" She loves to make people laugh and sometimes acts overly goofy to try and achieve that. I prefer the little zingers she comes up with over the showing-off but hey, if she's confident enough to put herself out there who am I to stop her?
Ella is still my movie buff with an ever-expanding collection of loves, the newest being Maleficent. Ella is such a cool kid and here's why. Sure, she likes the princesses but ultimately she is usually drawn to the stronger women who don't require the aid of a handsome prince. Here's my theory as to why. Ella is strong, or at least aspires to be, and so she prefers the strong, slightly rebellious, females. Like the Wicked Witch in the Wizard of Oz, Elsa from Frozen, Matilda, and now Maleficent, and that's just a few. Sometimes they're villains, sometimes they're just females who kick butt. Either way, I'm glad she's looking up to the strong characters. Even if they don't alway win in the end they at least put themselves out there. I also have high hopes that Ella will be my little nerd buddy. She loves fantasy and sci-fi so as long as she doesn't outgrow that I will have a little friend to geek out with.
