Getting Things Ready

To all my devoted readers who have already given birth,
Due to Andrew's and my schedules being very hectic and busy we are not going to be able to take a birthing class. If any of you took one and learned anything useful please share. Also, I'm starting to look at checklists of stuff for my overnight bag as well as a birthing plan. If any of you have any suggestions of stuff you enjoyed having or wished you would've had please share. I've only got 9 more weeks before she comes and once school starts (which is in two weeks) I'm not going to have a lot of time to spare. So, any suggestions, web sites, movies, anything you found useful in preparing for your first would be much appreciated. And if you don't comment here (especially sisters-in-law) I will be calling you a lot in the next few weeks. Hope you don't mind!
Sincerely,
Sarah :)

Well, if it makes you have any comfort, we didn't take any birthing classes either....and our birthing experience went perfect! Some people like to take a tour of the maternity ward in the hospital to make them feel more comfortable on their BIG day.

I am sure that I have some tips on what to bring on what to pack but with my pregnancy brain I can't think of anything at the moment. Ohhh....that is frustrating. Good Luck and we'll see you on the 15th!

I didn't take a birthing class either, and the people I have talk to who did take a birthing class said it was basically a waist of time. Man with my prgo brain though I can barely think! I do remember the more you can keep your body relaxed (which is almost impossible with that much pain) the faster you will dialate. Also if you keep your blatter empty, (litteraly peeing every 10-15 min) it helps with the contractions. Also be prepared after you have the baby, and you you think you are done, they come in and push on your stomach and it hurts worse then you can even think!! I had Cambree totally natural so I am not sure how the whole epideral thing works. Oh if you start to push, and they don't give cut you, and you feel something start to really burn down there, you are ripping, stop pushing and ask them to numb it, I learned that one the hard way, they can numb it so you don't feel the rip, the rip hurts SO SO bad!! If you have her natural, then you will feel pressure, once you are ready to push, push like down into the pain/pressure, it will make sense when your in there, if you remember any of this! Honestly your in so much pain you can't think at all!! The nurses are very helpful, at least mine where so they will be able to coach you a lot also! As far as packing things I don't remember what all I packed, make sure to bring a camera, both video and digial if you have them. DON'T pack a pair of jeans to wear home! lol I did that mistake and it does not work! Um. . .I will keep thinking about things, and see if I come up with anything else. You will be fine though. I am really excited for you!

With Adelaide I was so glad I brought my own pajamas because it made my stay much more comfortable. Make sure your battery to your camera is charged. We didn't check so with I think it was Liam that we hardly got any pictures of him. Bring shampoo, conditioner, toothbrush and paste, brush,q-tips,clothes for Ella to come home in. All of those things I have forgot in the past and wish I had them. I hope that helps.
