Here's What's New

Andrew and I are officially into our new place. We are NOT officially unpacked and it's not looking like that's going to happen for a while to a lack of storage. The new place has more room but less storage so we, meaning Andrew, will be making some storage. Who knows when that will get done. Until then, the baby's room is more like a war zone of a bunch of our junk fighting for room. Andrew is also working on other projects in the new place. For the most part it was one of the best of basement apartments we'd seen but there were still a few things that needed some work. For instance, the kitchen floor. The linoleum on it was very old and suffering a great deal. The edges don't meet the wall and are folding up also. After much hassling the managers finally contacted the owners and we are being allowed to replace it. Andrew got a great deal on some fiber floor (which I am told is very nice stuff) and he will be putting that in hopefully today. And yes, the owners are paying us for the flooring though I'm pretty sure the only reason they agreed is because Andrew said he'd install it for free. I love having my handy man. The carpet in the front room also was struggling. Though that fix was much quicker and easier. It just needed to be re-stretched which Andrew did before we moved all the furniture in. And lastly, our bathroom counter. It was covered by linoleum crap that was bubbling and coming off. So Andrew tore that off and come to find out, our counter is slanted. It slanted down towards you so things could pretty much just roll right off onto the floor. Andrew has now fixed that with that tile putty cement stuff. I'm so smart when it comes to handy-man terms aren't I? Anyway, he was able to get scrap tiles from the place he works for free and he will be putting those on the counter. He's already finished the sides but because the putty was so thick from making the counter level we've had to wait for it to dry. That should be getting done here pretty soon though and I'm super excited. My man is so sweet to do all this. I think he's really starting to get baby conscious and trying to make this new place a home for our little one. I will post some of the before and after pictures of the place soon but as of right now we don't have internet in our place and so I've been making due with running up to the library. I just don't feel like loading my pictures onto a strange computer and our little usb drive things (I can't remember what they're called right now) are still packed.

In other news:

School's out for summer! Hooray! I have officially passed all my classes and am officially on track for graduating in December. I've talked to all my professors and after explaining my special situation for next semester they not only have said they'd work with me but one has offered to be godfather and another has said she'd bring me tums for heartburn, oh and she also said to ignore any "no food" signs and bring any snacks I want. haha
As for Andrew, he's the type where he'll check his grades when he's good and ready. Well, he's not good and ready yet though he's pretty confident that he did well this semester. He's in the process of changing his major so who knows when he'll graduate but at least there's light at the end of one of our tunnels.

As for work, we have both been insanely busy. I had been hired on at Convergys but due to baby and an extreme non-desire to work there I decided to stick with Hollywood and Virginia. I'm rather pleased with that decision. I've been getting PLENTY of hours at Hollywood (32 this week, and 25-ish next) not to mention my numbers have been soaring. For example, we're supposed to get 20% of one thing to be on the district managers good side. Friday I had 75% Monday I had 106% and yesterday (Tuesday) I know I also did very well though I haven't gotten a text from my manager with great praise yet for today. So needless to say, the management position is back on the table. I will be competing with one other girl but at this point I think I'll back down and just see if I can get a raise instead. Seeing as I will be unavailable in a few months I think it's only fair to let the other girl get the job. But just the same, I'm glad they offered it to me again.
Though you all know how much I've disliked working for Virginia I'm really glad I stuck with her. The past couple weeks she's been in bed with a pulled muscle and the poor woman is in a lot of pain and I think she's also been very lonely. Because I'm pregnant she won't let me do anything real strenuous so lately I've pretty much just been going to her home and feeding her and then sitting with her while she's slept. Every time I've asked if she wanted me to go home early she has said she doesn't want to be alone. This past Monday I couldn't' get a hold of her and it turns out she had an accident, panicked and called her kids who then took her to the hospital. After doing some tests they found she had cancer everywhere and only has a little time left. Her kids had organized things quite well so she'd have one of us girls with her at all times. My time was mornings but this morning I was called by her daughter who said she had even less time than what they had originally thought. So last Friday was probably my last day with Virginia. Her daughter expressed how grateful she was for me and the other girls who had helped Virginia live out her last days in her own home. Though my experience with Virginia was rather difficult and I complained (way more than I should have I'm sure) I'm very grateful for the experience to have worked for her. The past few weeks have been a blessing. We've been getting along a lot better. I've been maintaining my patience much better and she has not been trying it so hard. I'm grateful for that and for not having to regret anything concerning how we left things.

On a happier note, Andrew's work has also been very good. He's had a job everyday (minus Sunday) and has really been raking in the dough. Of course we're not seeing much of that dough. Our savings account is. But we're ok with that. We're just grateful to actually have a little extra to put into savings now.

And on the happiest note of all, 6 days and we'll know what we're having!

Yeah for Andrew and his handy-man skills! I bet it already looks like an entirely different apartment with the few changes that he's made. Way to go! And....I can't wait to hear about the baby.
