First, apologies to my two faithful readers for being so late in this months post. I have no good excuse, other than I just didn't feel like blogging. So we'll just jump right in now that the mood as hit.
That Ella girl. Lately she comes home from school talking about boys. "Today, Braxton is my best boyfriend." or "Braxton sat by Lexi today so Taten is my best boyfriend." or "I'm going to ask him to marry me tomorrow." or "He's so handsome." And so on, and so forth. And it's hilarious. Luckily, she doesn't get upset when her number one sits next to another girl. She's good at rolling with it and I hope that I am doing a good job at nurturing that reaction. I don't mind her being boy crazy, as long as she doesn't take it too seriously. She is six after all.
Thank heavens, boys aren't Ella's only favorite subject in school. She continues to excel in everything. Her vocab tests come back consistently with 100% and her math has yet to stump her. She comes home with a homework pack every week and I used to have to read the instructions to her. Now, she reads them herself and only comes to me when she doesn't understand what's being asked or to check her work. Her reading has really taken off over the past month or so. In school, she was moved to the most advanced reading group. At home, she is reading her first chapter book (The Boxcar Children) and when reading scriptures with the family only needs help with one or two words per verse (usually the names.) I am so proud of my girl and SO excited to start sharing my childhood favorites with her.
Aside from school, Ella is loving life. She's been taking tumbling and loving it. Her skills have improved a lot and it's been so fun watching her. She continues to be a huge helper around the house. She is great at keeping her room clean, folding her laundry, and cleaning her bathroom. She loves making breakfast for her and Livie (usually toast) and letting mommy sleep in a bit (best daughter ever!) She loves playing with friends and has seems to have found a bestie. She has a lot of little friends, but there is one she definitely favors. She loves riding her bike, running around, and most recently knocking on doors to perform tricks for the neighbors (insert the laughing til you cry emoticon here.) Ella is still, and at this point I'm thinking will always be, my little movie buff. Her most recent favorite would include the new Star Wars. We got it last week and since then she's watched it twice and then started at episode 4 (we don't believe in episodes 1,2, and 3 in this house) She is my beautiful little nerd and I love her for it.
