Ah the mind of a three-year-old. Seriously. The things Livie says kill me. According to her, Carter (the neighbor boy) is her boyfriend because he farts, and that's funny. But daddy! Now daddy is her best boyfriend because when he toots he says, "Excuse you!" to the girls and that's REALLY funny.
But, Daddy's teasing is sometimes too much for her. Sometimes she starts whining so I tell her to grow a thicker skin (because she is moldable, and Andrew is set in his ways.) Her response was, "Or I could growl at him?" And we all laughed. And she growled.
Olivia is also learning the joys of trying to fit a word in with a daddy and sister who, once started, can talk for-ev-er. Now, when this is the case, she will yell at us, "Take a breath so I can talk!" And we laugh. And she growls.
For Christmas, Andrew got me an art set. Ella has one as well. So life around here has been about painting and drawing and art. It's wonderful. Olivia takes great pleasure in it as well. So much so that everything is art now. The other day, she did a puzzle and said, "Look, daddy! It's so beautiful, cuz I'm a artist!" And we laughed, and she growled.
She is using common phrases more and more and I love it. Especially when she mixes them up. We were watching netflix. The rule with netflix is we take turns choosing. So, after the eleventh Daniel Tiger Andrew tried to steal the remote. Livie said, "No. It will be your turn in a couple whiles." We laughed, she growled.
Then, this last little one wasn't so much what she said, but what she did. She was using my toilet and informed me she was trying to poop and pee. Praise, praise from mommy. She then started patting her head. No idea what she was doing, I asked. She responded, "I'm trying to get the poop to come out."
So this girl is full of laughs. There's something new everyday. Not only in the category of thinking but of developments. As the growling suggests, she gets feeling kind of silly when she's center of attention. She loves it, but she gets shy. When she is feeling in the spotlight she will A) Growl with a mischievous smile on her face B)Tickle anyone around or C) Hide. All are cute.
Livie had a pretty big January with all her developing. The big girl finally got rid of her binky! Not voluntarily. She lost it and I refused to buy her a new one. It was a rough couple days in which we put magic lotion on her hands and legs to help her feel brave. Oddly, that little trick actually worked. And her skin was super soft. She also repotty trained. The holidays kind of killed our past success in that department, and the pneumonia didn't help, but with the promise of a daddy daughter date, she is back on the horse...er...potty.
As for Olivia's health. Pneumonia sucks. But she recovered well. She is off oxygen completely now and couldn't be happier. Her coughing has even subsided. This morning, she through up but it's looking like that was more of a detox thing because she's acting totally fine now. Who knows? I do know, I hate winter and I'm ready for spring.
