Happy Birthday!

Last week was pretty packed with Birthdays. Ok, there were really only two. Ella's and mine. But we had three parties.

On October 6th we had a nice little intimate party for Ella. Just the three of us. Since Ella loves chicken we had homemade sweet 'n sour chicken over rice. And the girl actually ate really well! Why is this a miracle you ask? Because Little Miss watched me make her cake right before and had been asking for "cek" non-stop since. Of course as soon as we got her cake/giant cupcake she was asking for "pressies" aka presents. The girl knows what Birthdays are all about. We "made" her eat at least some of her cake first. As the pictures show, it was an Elmo cake. When she finished off his eyes the poor girl about had a heart attack. She was so sad about Elmo's eyes. Then the mouth, nose etc. She was sad about his facial features gone, but not sad enough to stop eating him.

We only let her open a few of her presents since our families were coming over on Saturday for another party. She opened her grocery basket complete with plastic fruits and veggies. Once open she proceeded to "eat" each one then chuck it. She next opened her Elmo doll we got her. Then her Belle Barbie. Once both were open she would make them hold hands then lay them down pat there bellies and say "Elmo, Barbie sleeping." She was so excited to sleep with them that she skipped story time and lullabies and went straight to bed. Of course we caught her out of bed playing with them about ten minutes later but can ya blame her?

Birthday party #2 for Ella was also very fun. Some of my family travelled up from Utah County. Thanks again mom, Ty and Kari and kids! So fun to have you over! We fed those who travelled and then Andrews family came over for cake, icecream and presents. The cake was a BIG hit. My nieces and nephews as well as Ella were so excited to eat Elmo. I haven't loaded those pictures on here yet but the cake was just a giant version of Ella's cupcake from a few nights before. We did presents first this time. Ella would open one and if it was interesting, meaning if it wasn't clothes, she'd pass it to her uncle mike who was next to her. If it was interesting she'd look at it and play for a second. Until she got to her baby doll. Andrew's parents got Ella a little baby doll and Andrew and I had gotten her a little bottle. Once both of those were open we couldnt' get her to open anything else. She just HAD to feed/share the bottle with baby. Eventually we did get her to open some more stuff. Her list of presents included a my little pony, a Buzz doll, two Mrs Potatoe heads (the toy story one and a mini one) coloring book and crayons, clothes, an Elmo and Jack skellington beanie, and I'm sure I'm missing some. Basically the girl was spoiled rotten. It was so much fun! I never thought about how much fun I'd have watching her on Birthdays and Christmas once she was old enough to care. It really is a total blast.

Oh and for my Birthday on Friday I refused to do anything. Andrew was going to make me dinner but I was feeling a little under the weather so we just had cheese and crackers. My birthday dinner is sitting in the freezer waiting for Andrew to cook it now. It's alaskan salmon in case you were wondering. And he's not a total slacker. He's just been super busy with work this week. He got me lego star wars for the wii and lion king. I was surprised I got anything at all since we had gotten me a new vacuum and applesaucer a couple week prior. And he did the dishes for me! What a good egg. Overall it was the perfect mellow b-day for me. I got to relax and spend time with my two favorite people in the whole world. And Ella spent all day since "Happy day to you!" and Andrew even got her to say "Happy Bufday" instead of "Happy day" So cute.
